We share a wondrous Vancouver Island life with our Zuchon companions. Our dogs (aka the puppy's parents) appreciate our outdoor adventures as much as we do. On the flip side, they are just as happy to lay by our side enjoying a good Netflix n Chill night. They enjoy various activities and interests, including swimming with a natural love of water from a very early age. Our adults are our personal forever cherished companions. Living a life of love, freedom and fulfillment by our side, tagging along everywhere we go as our adored companions!
Below we have included each parent's photo gallery. Including those yet to be a parent and our retired parents, with a write-up describing each parent in addition to our Tiny Teddy Bear traits outlined within our breed info page. Which covers their beauty, flawless health history, exceptionally healthy bloodlines, therapy, service and emotional support, suitable temperaments and training abilities, amazing dispositions, affectionate personalities, size & body type etc., as outlined on our Tiny Teddy Breed Info page.
We are commonly asked if we have a "guardian program." We do not support the guardian-home practice for numerous reasons. Quality control, behaviour, traits, nutrition, prenatal care, postnatal care are just a few reasons. The reasoning behind guardianship programs is primarily is used to produce a high volume of puppies. That is not who we are. We are all about ethics and quality, not quantity! Our passion as responsible, ethical breeding for the advancement of only high-quality Zuchons and ethically producing a limited amount of puppies is also why we do not stud out our males. Another reason would be the plethora of diseases that could be transmitted to our dogs and their puppies that we have kept in perfect health and condition at all times for 2 decades. Such as CHV or Canine Herpes Virus for just one example among many devastating transmitted viruses. Quality control is paramount for the complete and long-term health of the parent dogs and their puppies. Guardianship is known to be a terrifying experience for an expectant mom to endure. From over 35 years of personal experience in breeding, we know that caring for our moms (who we love dearly) is paramount in creating our exceptional puppies. Removing the expectant mom from her support system of the humans she loves, trusts and relies on most during such a monumental sensitive time is proven to be a highly stressful and confusing process, with concerns raised regarding the traumatic behaviour upon the dam's return home as a very different dog. For example, it is commonly known a dog's devotion runs so deep they will pause labour to wait for their people. To be honoured with such a deep gesture of love, trust and loyalty, is an amazing and beautiful responsibility. There is a lot to do to ensure mom's happiness and puppy's continued progress as they emulate everything they can from mom for the next 8 to 9 weeks, even stress. For Mike and I, it's a full-time responsibility and dedication 24/7, 365 days a year, to ensure perfection.
While all Zuchons are social by nature, everyone who sees Loki's magnificently gorgeous, happy tail wagging from afar comes running to greet him. His balanced temperament shows the extreme gentle calmness our breed is known for. Loki is super friendly with kindhearted loyalty and fun to be around energy. He plays hard and is always up for a good game of keep-away, tug o war, fetch or romp around with his pals. He loves to show off his obedience and is easily trained, always making that essential Shichon eye contact both the Bichon and the Shih Tzu ancestors are known for. He is attentive and affectionate, and snuggly. He will follow us anywhere, typically off-leash, with his excellent obedience, training and straightforward attitude. He has this adorable way of holding our hands with his paw while snuggling. He loves our walks and prancing along proudly, wagging his tail confidently to all he greets along his happy adventure. Loki continually impresses us with his intelligence, passion for pleasing and athleticism while training or practicing agility on the obstacle course.
Kena has a cheerful, easygoing personality, with a gentle & sweet demeanour that is affectionate and engaging to all. She is an excellent example of our Zuchon sweetness and their ability to sense those in need of her care and attention. Kena enjoys performing and dancing, and her shows are always spectacular. She smiles upon request and is quite a talented singer, creating beautiful notes when prompted. Playtime is always right around the corner here, you never know when something hilarious will occur, and she is always ready to join in. Kena is brilliant, easy to communicate with and enjoys learning and following commands, with the proud cheery attitude our Zuchons are adored for.
She is truly a prime example of Tiny Teddy Bear Zuchon.
Fenix is a devoted, ready to please little cutie. She is intelligent and very social with a flowy grace about her and adored by all those she encounters. Her favourite activities are running free and playing full-throttle to show off her mad speed and "can't catch me" skills. She enjoys fetching, especially near the water, to have a quick swim and incorporate her enjoyment of rolling on the hot sand to dry off. She likes to have her naps belly up in the toybox on top of the stuffed animals. She enjoys our pack walks and new experiences with brave, cheery confidence. She will come running to share her love, affectionately rubbing her head on us until she has our sole attention devices included. Fenix is a lovable dog and a joy to share our life with.
