We have decades of ongoing references from our families all around the world from Vancouver B.C Canada, Calgary, Edmonton Alberta to as far away as Toronto, Miami, Palm Springs, Italy and Singapore.
Greetings from both of us. We are very well and hope you are too. Minnow is living up to all the expectations, has had all his shots, been to puppy school and is due to be neutered in early September. I spend most of my day with him in one way or another and always try to keep him comfortable in every way. I just reread your puppy book and see potatoes are a no-no. Guess that is it for the odd French fry bit or chips. He has never had loose stools however once when worried he chewed up an unfortunate choice of mine the pumpkin seemed to make him A-ok. Not sure about that incident. He is very good at family gatherings and dinner parties although he goes in his soft sided carrier which he likes, when the main meal comes out. I am hopeful he can be "cross- trained" forever going to the bathroom inside and outside. He seems happy with both but I worry about him peeing or pooing in someone's house if I am not super careful. Lately he has been such a little gentleman. Your early nurturing has huge benefit at this end. Hope this finds you spending lots of time at your place up on the northern Island. Wags and hugs Janice and Minnow
Hi Corinne & Mike,
I just wanted to let you know that Milo (that is what we named our little guy) has settled in nicely.
He is adorable, hilarious and definitely keeps us on our toes.
Milo and our cat Autumn have sorted things out and when Milo is being a pesky we often find Autumn grooming him! lol she licks his ears, paws and eyes. Milo loves to go outdoors to play in the snow. He is such a lovable little guy who likes adventures.
Thank you so much for raising such a wonderful breed of dogs.
Take care.
Tannis
Hi Corrine, I thought I'd send a few pics of gizmo. I think he's already changed and grown! Thanks for the info on marrow bones, I got some Friday and he loved having one. About the carrots, can he have the baby carrots whole to chew on? Or so they need to be the bigger whole ones? Thanks, hope you're having a good weekend! Sara, From Winnipeg

Hello Corinne and Mike, We are very lucky to have Teaka from you guys in 2015, she is truly such an amazing addition to our family. We love her so much! I was looking in my email for a recipe list, you had sent it out in the little care package with grooming instructions as well - I cannot seem to find it anywhere in my email or computer and would like to make her some treats! She eats a natural kibble but I'd like to start including some home cooked food, just not sure where to start and am finding too many things online without much consistency. Teaka has not had any health issues, and I brush her teeth regularly. She is just a fantastic dog, very gentle and playful. Wonderful with the kids, and is happy to tag along everywhere we go. She does however hate being brushed, and her hair gets very tangled quickly - any tips? In the near future I'd like to add another dog to family and as a friend for Teaka, and we will most certainly be coming back to you! Thanks again, and hope you all had a wonderful summer outside. Take care, Brooke
Hi Corinne and Mike,
Just sending you a few photos of Teaka. She is always on the move playing especially when I try to snap some pics!! She is always giving kisses. She loves to play fight with Mia, even more than chasing the ball, and it's been nice to see Mia acting like a puppy again since Teaka had been here. She's just had her second shots, since we live where there are lots of other dogs. So I am looking forward to being able to take her for proper walks this week! I have taken the dogs to a friends farm in Maple Ridge where they have loved swimming in a small river, Teaka is a total water pup. And looking forward to heading to saltspring with the dogs next month and going to the beach. Just wanted to touch base and tell you guys how much we love Teaka! Hope you are well, take care.

Hi Corrine & Mike,
The year has sure flown by! Well here we are now wishing you a Merry Christmas from Sidney and finally sending you a pic of Tux. He his a wonderful little dog and is very friendly with people and other dogs, loves kids but most of all - people with treats. He's very active and goes for two walks a day and reminds us when we're late to take him out. So glad we found you and of course Tux:)
Hi Guys, Here are the updated photos of Barkley after his first hair cut the groomer was praising your instructions for grooming and saying what a beautiful breed he is so we passed on your details so they can give to their clients more interest in your pups right. Barkley defiantly is a show stopper everyone stops me to ask what breed he is and how cute he is etc. So thank you so much for allowing us be puppy parents to one of your pups he is such a joy and we love him so much we can’t even remember what life was like without him. My daughter was out playing with Java and her 'kong' this afternoon and took a couple pictures. I thought I would pass them along to you as they show her personality, amazing long eyelashes and crazy hair perfectly :) She is getting more brown in the muzzle area lately. Hope all is well with you!! Stephanie and Beans
Java is doing great. She is such an affectionate little thing, she loves to give hugs, when we pick her up she nuzzles her little head into the crook of your neck and sighs. I have never known a dog to do this. She goes from loving and cuddly to crazy and playful in about ten seconds flat. She LOVES to be outside. We were outside for about an hour today, in the drizzling rain while she chased her 'flying squirrel'. She is now curled up in one of her THREE dog beds napping.
Yes...she is easy to spoil. We have been working on harness training, which is actually going very well. She gets excited when she sees the harness now as she knows she will be going for a 'walk'. After our usual 'walk' I generally take her leash off and let her run free in the yard for a bit. A couple weeks ago, I dropped the leash and bent over to take it off and the little monkey sprinted up the driveway with the leash still attached. Although she understands the word 'Come' she does not always listen, when she gets excited- and this was one of those times. However, Java's border collie 'Mommy' Tucho understands this word very well and is very responsive to it, so she raced after Java as soon as I yelled it, grabbed the leash in her mouth and pulled her back down the driveway to me. It was pretty funny. Tucho is always watching out for and teaching her 'baby'. Java continues to have an odd fascination for vegetables. Occasionally when I am cooking meat she will wander into the kitchen to check out the smell, but I just start to peel a carrot and she is right there. She loves carrots, fresh or steamed, yellow peppers, cucumber, watermelon and apple. Fruits or veggies are her favorite treats. Again, Congratulations on your new 'babies'! I told Java she has a pile of new brother and sisters, which just brought a happy tail wag. This is her response to pretty much everything though, as she is a fluffy ball of joy. Happy New Year to your Zuchon family!!
Take Care
Stephanie and Java aka 'Beans' (good thing she responds to both names)
Hi Corrine and Mike!
Java is growing by leaps and bounds. She is probably twice the size she was when she arrived. The weather has been beautiful so we have been going out for as many walks as we can before we are limited by the snow, which could be here in a month. She knows our route...down the path with all the leaves to jump in....across the trail to the lake (I am a party pooper here as there are many piles of bear poop I won't let her frolic in-although she sooooo wants to) and down on the dock (which she is still a bit wary of, but getting better) and back up across the grass to kick around the boys soccer ball, which she is trying so hard to make move on her own...but is just not big enough.
House training is coming along, she is able to hold her bladder longer now which makes it easier on all of us. I am amazed at how she is able to adapt her moods to those around her, if she is feeling frisky, but everyone is quiet she mellows out. If I want to have a play time so she is tired when we have to go somewhere, and leave her- she is more than willing to play. She knows her name quite well and almost always comes when she is called. She responds better to a whistle (likely because Tucho comes better to one). She has also learned to sit for a treat the past two days.
We had a large Thanksgiving dinner (18 additional people) and it was Java's debut, with many of our friends and their children. Everyone fell in love with her, I even had arguments over who would take care of her when and if we went out of town! Java did excellent, she was so excited to see all the people and did very well with being passed around. I passed your name and website along to one of my friends- as her two daughters fell in love with Java-she just has to convince her husband.....
Hope all is well with you!!
Stephanie
Well, our little princess continues to grow and thrive. She had her 12 week vet check/shots about a week and a half ago. She had almost doubled her weight since she arrived here. She was the happiest dog I have ever taken to the vet, her little tail did not stop moving, and she covered the vet's face with puppy kisses. Our veterinarian feels we should wait until six months to get her fixed (as opposed to five) just because she is so little. The week following the vet visit, she met her groomer. She is a lovely lady that owns and shows six poodles. So Java made friends with all the poodles there. Because she is still quite small, she just had a bath, her nails clipped, and a 'blowout/brushout'. We will continue to do this once a month until she is ready for a real haircut, just so she gets used to her new hairdresser. Java (Or 'Beans' as has become her nickname) has quite an independent spirit. She does understand the word 'come' but does wrestle with it (like any two year old child would) when there is a person who obviously needs to love her, a cat to be chased or a yard to continue running through. She does eventually follow the 'big dog' who of course being a border collie, is very obedient in her efforts to please her people. Because Java does idolize the 'big dog' I think she will catch on soon enough. The last couple days she has come to me whining in the house, if she needs to do her business, which is an awesome development. She even went outside all by herself to pee last night, and when she scuttled back through the door she sat on her bum and looked up at me, as if to say, I did my business, now where is my treat??? Which I always give her-after she does her business outside. She is so smart, and very observant. The good news is, Java is not longer the size of a large mouse, so that cat has stopped stalking her. Java is getting braver with the cat and will jump on her back and run away as quickly as she can to avoid the cat's wrath. She is very quick, so it is working out well for her so far :) I think it is just a matter of time before they come good friends. Our cat,Tali was trying to play with her a couple days ago, but Java was a little standoffish….understandably. Java continues to get better with car rides. At first a ride to town was the source of much anxiety, but now she curls up on her blanket or the passengers lap (if there is one) and goes to sleep. Absolutely no problems with car sickness.
The biggest new excitement in Java's world is the discovery of snow! We received about two inches last night, which was the source of much excitement. She sticks her head completely under the snow and burrows through it with her bum sticking up in the air. She comes up looking like a giant snowball. When I brought her in last night, and gave her a rubdown with a towel, she continued to chase all the snowballs that were falling off of her until they melted, and then looked at me puzzled "Where did they go?". Anyhow, as I type this she is looking out the patio doors and whining, and I know she does not have to do her business, the sun is shining and the snow looks oh so inviting, so I think we shall head out for a play session, while the day is still warmish. I am enclosing a picture of her just after she came home from the groomer. The pink bow did not last long, but it was cute while it did!! Thanks for everything again!! Take Care Stephanie and Java a.k.a. 'Beans'
Hi Corrine: Just wanted to let you know that Keely is doing fine and has settled in nicely. Thanks again for our little angel. Tina and George
Hello,from Anita
I am enjoying him so much..he is the love of my life, such a sweet boy,and such a great companion. I am recovering from hip surgery, and I have friends helping, taking him for walks every day...should be able to do it myself soon!
He has his 1st Birthday, May 31st, I think..we will celebrate it together
( mine is May 26)
Cheers, Anita
Dear Corinne & Mike. We want to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and Peace and Joy in the coming year!!! KC has turned into a charming little fellow 6 months old now. As you can see he is pals with Mimi our kitty, and has graduated from puppy school at Pet Smart.... He loves his Christmas toys, and is going to fly to Edmonton, for Xmas. He is the love of my life!! I have a letter from my Vet re: neutering at around one year. Hoping all is well with you, as you celebrate Christmas in your new home??? I will keep in touch.
PS I can't walk anywhere, without people passing and stopping to ask what breed, and what a handsome boy he is he looks like a little teddy bear...Cheers, Anita, KC and Mimigirl.
Wow sounds like you are having such a good time and that would have been awesome to see the whales, i just love the outdoors and nature.... Maxwell worked at it and got his ribbon off and tried to eat it, but his mean mummy took it away. He is a walking gourmet loves to eat anything he can, you have to watch where you put things because he can get up on all the chairs now, he is such a live wire. Keep catching fish and having fun, Love Wendy & Maxwell
well Maxwell had his last set of shots for a year...he now weighs 7.20 lbs., he has doubled in size, there is no stopping him now he is running up and down the stairs, when just a week ago I had to carry him, he can now jump up on the couches and chairs, he still does not like going for walks or car rides, but I am as stubborn as he is, so we go, be it under protest, but he has settled in nicely, I am learning to shut cupboard doors, otherwise I am finding my shoes in his bed or mouth, he is quite the character and inspire of my telling him he still cannot tell the difference between his stuff and my stuff, I guess as far as he is concerned its all his...he is adorable and definitely keeps me on my toes...he is a chow hound the minute I go to the fridge or freezer surely it must be to get him something...you tell his furry mummy and daddy they had a sweet little boy, even though he is full of mischief , wouldn’t have him any other way.....when I get more update photo’s will send you some.
Have a good fall, God Bless, Love Wendy & Maxwell
Hi Corinne,
How are you guys all doing? I check your website often and wonder if the dogs are expecting...? Just curious. My boys would love to get another puppy friend for Lincoln (just have to talk my husband into it :)
Lincoln continues to be great. Can't believe he's turning 11 months this week! He's developed so many funny little mannerisms - and I swear he can "talk" to us. When his water bowl is empty he turns to me in the kitchen and gives a quiet "ruff." When he wakes up before the boys, he sneaks into their rooms and gives them a couple of sharp barks to get their butts out of bed and play with him. So cute. He loves playing with other dogs so I'm thinking maybe we should consider a little friend...
We love his size - he's topped out so far at about 8lbs, so if we look at another one it would be a little tiny one just like him - if possible.
Hope you are doing well. Did you bring the dogs on any exciting camping trips this summer??
Jackie
.
Hi Corinne & Mike,
Can't believe it's been over 2 months since we brought Lincoln home! I thought I'd send a quick update to let you know how great it's been going. Lincoln fits right into our family, and we are so happy with him! We are so proud of his demeanor and everywhere we go people ask where we got him. I wouldn't be surprised if down the road some family and friends contact you for a puppy. In fact, I never thought I'd say this, but I'd even consider getting a little sibling for Lincoln to play with! Maybe you could let us know when the next litter is due next year? Lincoln graduated from puppy class a few weeks ago, and now drops into a little doggy daycare for a 1/2 day a week for some puppy play-time. The people there LOVE him, and even gave him his first haircut this week. He has spent countless hours with us at the school playground, and has unbelievable patience and kindness with all of the children who approach him and pet him and play with him. He loves to make us laugh - he even devised his own version of hide-and-seek in our rockery garden where he sprints around the plants and then hides in behind one until we say "where's Lincoln?...." then he's off in circles and does it again. It's crazy and none of us taught him how to do it. He loves to see us laugh :) Anyways thanks again for continuing such a wonderful breed. I'll send some photos - hopefully they don't come through too big.
Bye for now,
Jackie
